The month of February of the year 2015 saw the average atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide touch the 400 parts per million, a level never reached in the last 23 million years. Today we breathe an air that none of our ancestors has ever breathed. Atmospheric concentrations of CO2 increase by more than two p.p.m. per year, an increase that has been enough to increase the global average annual temperature of 0.8 ° C in the last three decades.
Many observations and important reports have shown conclusively that the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is almost entirely due to human activities. But what are the main sources of CO2 production and, for what is intended to be the subject of this work, what share of greenhouse gas emissions is the construction sector responsible for?
