📣 GIAMPIERO BRIONI AT MADE EXPO

During the seminar organized by the College of Engineers and Architects of Milan in collaboration with RICS, Eng. Giampiero Brioni analyzed the evolution of economic and methodological competencies in complex project management, highlighting the Italian educational gap compared to Anglo-Saxon contexts and presenting operational tools that integrate Business Intelligence, artificial intelligence, and BIM-based Quantity Surveying.

At the seminar on November 19th at MADE Expo, organized by the College of Engineers and Architects of Milan in collaboration with RICS and moderated by College President Claudio Sangiorgi, Eng. Giampiero Brioni analyzed the evolution of competencies in economic and temporal management of complex projects, addressing the transition from the estimator model to the roles of Cost Manager and Time Manager, while Emanuele Gozzi, President of Ingegneri Riuniti, highlighted the criticalities arising from poorly defined roles and responsibilities.

Brioni presented operational tools that redefine project cost control: Business Intelligence applied to BIM-based Quantity Surveying, dynamic dashboards for real-time monitoring, artificial intelligence applications for cost management. The Artemio Franchi Stadium case study illustrated how process automation and early coordination in critical decision-making phases ensure structured control throughout the entire lifecycle, transforming economic design into a strategic element active from preliminary phases.

The contribution highlighted the educational gap separating Italy from international contexts: while three-year university programs dedicated to Total Cost Management exist elsewhere, the Italian system continues to neglect the economic dimension of engineering design. The supply chain requires Project Managers and Cost Managers with distinctive competencies trained on specific methodologies, not improvised, to govern time and costs in highly complex projects.
