Technical dimension and economic dimension, elimination of functional redundancies, and attention to construction solutions in line with the need to carry out the works in a short time: these were the criteria that led the design team coordinated by ARUP Italy in order to meet the requirements expressed by the municipality of Florence.

The goal was to remain within the spending limit established by the contracting authority, and this led all the team involved to work “in parallel,” promptly verifying the economic impact of the technical and technological solutions adopted by the designers. This work, conducted in an extremely limited time frame, was carried out in a BIM environment, according to a design syntax agreed with the designers and which formed the common thread of all the choices made.
