The intervention consists of a new architectural complex that will give new life to the former Hotel Michelangelo, a symbol of the Milanese skyline for more than half a century. MI.C becomes a landmark of a changing city, also in consideration of the fact that the project proposes a series of interventions on Piazza Luigi di Savoia, conceived as a redevelopment of an urban fabric that lacks a precise identity despite the strong and dynamic frequentation of which the entire area is a protagonist.

Allegato2

One of the main design goals was to conceptually preserve the existing building through the virtuous reuse of some of the demolition waste materials: a targeted deconstruction process in which as much of the concrete from the Hotel Michelangelo as possible is reused, partly in the new building and partly in the design of the public space. This process places the realization in a circular system concept that aims to use resources already produced, mitigates the effects of greenhouse gas emissions, and opens up the concept of Urban Mining-the possibility of obtaining secondary raw materials from the built environment.
